`Imiloa Extends Friday Hours of Operations.

 Spend a night at the Museum as ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center extends its Friday  operational hours to 8 pm starting Friday June 25, providing one more opportunity for evening goers in Hilo Town. Visitors will be able to enjoy the exhibits as well as the planetarium. The Friday night planetarium offerings are Awesome Light: Seeing the Invisible (3D show) at 7 pm, and ‘Imiloa’s new show Fragile Planet at 8 pm.  The exhibit hall will close at 8 pm. Admission rates apply.  The Sky Garden Restaurant will be open to 8:30 pm.

 

Uncle Kawaiola’s Dream: A Hawaiian Story - book signing with Victor Pellegrino

Author Victor Pellegrino Arrives at `Imiloa's Bank of Hawai`i Museum Store with his new publication Uncle Kawaiola’s Dream: A Hawaiian Story.   This new release will be available in the museum store Friday, August 20, and Mr. Pellegrino and illustrator Linda Rowell Stevens will be available from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm for a book signing in the atrium.

Uncle Kawaiola’s Dream: A Hawaiian Story is an `aina-based story that focuses on lo`i kalo restoration on Maui.  It is written in English with Hawaiian words, and includes an extensive two-page Hawaiian-English glossary. A useful study guide for teachers, students & parents is provided. This title is an excellent addition to Hawaiian and multi-culture library collections as well as school curricula that focus on Hawaiian history and agriculture. The illustrations by Linda Rowell Stevens, are realistic portrayals of Hawaiian people and places.  Uncle Kawaiola’s Dream is Pellegrino’s thirteenth book.
