3D Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe

This is a series of live, ‘Imiloa Planetarium programs using 3D stereoscopic projection. Shawn Laatsch, ‘Imiloa’s planetarium manager, hosts the evening presentations which are offered throughout the year, as he "flies" participants out into space on a unique and engaging tour through the Universe.

Audiences travel to our local planets and their moon systems, zip through the rings of Saturn, and explore the asteroids. Visit exoplanets orbiting other stars, explore nebulae and go far beyond to star clusters and other areas of our Milky Way galaxy. Travel beyond the Milky Way, into inter galactic space and explore our local group of galaxies, the Virgo cluster of galaxies to the farthest edge of the Universe.

Each 3D Hitchhikers Guide program features new data and imagery from Maunakea and other astronomical observatories, highlighting the latest discoveries.

The 3D Hitchhikers Exploration of the Universe live planetarium program will be presented in at 7:00 PM on selected Thursday evenings.
