The Hawai‘i District Science and Engineering Fair will be held at ‘Imiloa from Saturday, February 11, 2012,  to Thursday, February 16, 2012.  Judging will take place February 11. 

Beginning Monday, February 13 to 16th, 2012 ‘Imiloa will schedule field trips for classes of at least 25 students at the $6/student rate and free transportation.

‘Imiloa will be open on Monday, February 13, 2012, For the Science fair Field trips, but will be closed to the public. The Science Fair Field Trip will include a visit to the Hawai‘i District Science and Engineering projects, the exhibit hall and our new Planetarium show, Wildest Weather In The Solar System. Schools choosing the Wildest Weather In The Solar System show qualify for free admission. The Monday Field Trip planetarium show times are 9:15, 10:15, 11:15 and 1:15 with a maximum of 115 people per show.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be the usual field trip times in the morning and afternoon public shows if available.

If you are not coming for the ‘Imiloa experience and would just like to view the student projects, there is no charge to see the Hawai‘i District Science and Engineering Fair displays.  Admission applies for the ‘Imiloa exhibits and Planetarium. Please let us know the times of your visit so that we may schedule you into the Science Fair to prevent overcrowding the room.

 ‘Imiloa continues to raise private funding support for the ”Adopt a Visit” program.  Started in 2008, thanks to the support of a generous private foundation grant, the Adopt a Visit program fund makes it possible for schools across the island to visit ‘Imiloa free of charge, with both admission and transportation provided.  We have a limited amount of funds available for free field trips and funds are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.  We respectfully ask only that beneficiaries share letters or artwork from visiting classes with us so that we may share them with the donors who have helped make these experiences possible for our local schoolchildren.
