Annual Special Events
Three annual events at ‘Imiloa include:
Merrie Monarch Festival Enrichment Workshops
These workshops are held in conjunction with the annual Merrie Monarch Festival, Hawaii's oldest and most beloved hula festival. Workshops explore and explain the cultural aspects of hula.
Hilo Wayfinding and Navigation Festival
Early Polynesians used the stars to "wayfind" and navigate to find distant islands in the Pacific. Modern day navigators are relearning these skills and the annual Hilo Wayfinding and Navigation Festival that ‘Imiloa both produces and hosts share this with the public.
Annual Birthday Celebration
This event is ‘Imiloa's gift to the community. A free day of exploration of the Center's exhibits and planetarium, and gardens with special activities.
