Celebrate a loved one with your gift.
Landscaping around the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center is an integral part of the unique visitor experience offered here. Plantings on the Center grounds mimic the changes in vegetation at different elevations on the ascent up Mauna Kea and offer a glimpse into Hawai‘i’s pristine native ecosystem. This living outdoor exhibit encompasses six acres of land and over 70 native species onsite, representing Hawai‘i’s largest native plant landscape.
‘Imiloa’s living exhibit landscape won the top award Kulia I Ka Nu’u 2009 Hawai‘i Landscape Association Award for Environmental Stewardship. The awards judges commented that this garden is one of the finest examples of commercial type landscape in the state that features entirely Canoe and native Hawaiian plants.
Naming a garden in honor of a loved one is a great way to recognize someone you care about or memorialize someone who was close to you.

The Planetarium is the crown jewel of the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center. The 16-meter wide, titanium-domed Planetarium is home to a laser projection digital theatre with seating for 120 people. It is also the world’s first 3D stereoscopic Planetarium.
Naming a seat in the Planetarium in a position of your choice with your own special dedication is a special opportunity to leave a legacy for a loved one. This dedication will be carved onto a plaque and placed onto the back of the chair, making it part of the building. Your name or dedication will also be displayed in the ‘Imiloa Planetarium hallway where generations of visitors will find your name on the back of one of the comfortable seats in the dome. Your engraved nameplate may contain up to two lines of text, and the donation is payable via pledge payment over a number of years.
Your gift to the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center will entitle you to:
- An engraved nameplate on the back of one or more Planetarium seat(s)
- A tax deduction for 100% of your donation
- Permanent recognition at the entrance to the Planetarium on the donor wall
